Moulded by his small central Nigerian hometown of Jos, Kenneth Gyang developed a strong love for writing stories inspired by reading African Writers Series novels as a child. Accidentally stumbling on a film school close to him, Kenneth has studied writing and directing at the National Film Institute and Gaston Kabore’s IMAGINE in Burkina Faso. His screenplays have been selected for major international events like Script/Doc Clinic of Berlinale Talent Campus in Germany, the American Film Showcase Fellowship at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, and Script Junction, a UK-Nigeria screenwriting partnership program at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

He received a grant from the Hubert Bals Fund to produce the postmodernist low-budget dark comedy Confusion Na Wa, winning the Jury Prize at the Pan African Festival in LA and Best Film at the African Movie Academy Awards, amongst others.

Kenneth has directed some of the most successful Netflix Originals from Nigeria. Oloture, his third feature, premiered at Carthage Film Festival before becoming Nigeria`s first breakout film on Netflix followed by the global success of the series Blood Sisters and Far From Home.

He has been selected for the Berlin Talent Campus, Durban FilmMart and Rotterdam Film Lab. His current project, El Dorado Road, has undergone development at Ouaga Film Lab and EAVE Producers Workshop. His latest features THIS IS LAGOS and Mojisola have been Official Selections at the Africa International Film Festival, the Pan African Film Festival in LA, Silicon Valley African Film Festival and the New York African Film Festival.

Kenneth has worked with the BBC World Service Trust after graduating from Nigeria`s National Film Institute and is an AFS Fellow at University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts.

He was an Institute of International Education`s GTLF grant recipient.
